Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. The winds have slowed down in the canyon we live in but there is discussion about another wind "event" coming this weekend.

We came home Tuesday night as the power had been restored. So far so good.

Fingers crossed it continues.

I was at Loris Brenden Warden's home yesterday, along with her best friend, Donna Collins, and her husband, Rick. Lori is in the care of her son, Shannon, and Hospice Care.

The early picture is the '70 - '72 era.

I am feeling sad. Lori crossed the rainbow bridge Thursday morning. I miss the times. I happened to be watching Gladiator II on Wednesday night.  Now you are Free. https://youtu.be/tXZXLmzyKkw?si=w_HZWBOFmIRIaPQS

Sorry to hear about Loris Ann.  Knew her big brother Jerr much better.  Remember reading about her dad, Archie, and his land battle with the city, state and feda over I-90.  He owned the property where I-90 goes around Beacon Hill, at Dearborn .Great lesson about private property rights  Seems they tried to bulldoze the wrong guy.

Back to Loris Ann's Dad.  A number of our classmates' parents were contractors and WWII vets.  The lesson her dad taught  the state  was never make a lowball offer to a contractor.  Been there and had those.  A good attorney takes care of a lot of the humps and bumps.  Managed to meet quite a number of those contractors, including one whoose case went all the way to the Supreme Court.  Red one, Seattle zero.

Loris "Lori" Ann Bernice Brenden. A Celebration of Life  Feb 1, 2025

ALOHA, Until we meet again.

Her family, early Rainier Valley history, Bethlehem LC Choir classmates (Leaf, Kummberfeldt, Torbenson, Loris, Tungate, Harshbarger, Sletten, Pennemen, Roger, Fred. & ....? ), and FHS ‘68 trivia. Lori worked with many major stores as an Interior Designer.

All raised. But still a church. Currently as https://www.columbiacityhope.org/el-centro-columbia-city

Great pix Ric, thanx for posting. That church at 39th & Angeline is where Wild Bill Nelson (FHS67) and April Sheitel (FHS69) were married, summer 1969. Is that a church choir? I see Bruce Leaf, Larry Sletten(?)(RIP) and Dennis Perry too. All.Thoze.Years.Ago...

Thank you, Ric, for doing such a geat job of posting news and photos.  So many nice photos of Lori Ann.

I believe the photo from Columbia Lutheran was our Confirmation Class.  That must have been when we were in the 5th or 6th grade,  I think that is Janice Steinbrecher next to me.

With Valllentine day approaching soon -- I just felt compelled to brag a little.

My wife ( who graduated from West Seattle HS in 69 ) and I were married on Vallentines day in 1970.

This year is our 55th Anniversary. Mark Weaver should remember our wedding -- he was in it.

The minister who married us told us it would not last. We had too many on both sides that had been devorised.

We had to talk him into doing wedding. Well, we proved him wrong. Two adult children and five grandkids and

we are still going strong. We wish happiness and love to all who share this day with us.

Hi Wayne,

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary; 55 years is quite an achievement.

Best wishes to you and your wife.

Congrats, Wayne, on 55 years; Happy Valentine's Day. Thanks, John and Karen, for the clarification. That makes sense, being a confirmation class during your elementary school years. Wow, rather than a choir in the true sense. Lol.

I have enjoyed all the past posts. What a diverse community we are; I love ya all.

I will add another photo of the Columbia City Lutheran Church and its surroundings to the post above—# 1699.

Many changes have happened since our 50th Class Reunion in the Rainier Valley.

I love it that so many of you have chipped in with information to round out the pictures and other information.  It gives me a great sense of community.  Thanks all.

Congratulations to you, Wayne, on such a long and good marriage.  I made it 40 years with my husband but we are still a close family with 2 wonderful daughters and 4 grandkids and we both have new loving partners.

I treasure this Franklin community!

Johnny H.

Billy to Bill to Wild Bill to Pile Buck to Building Inspector Nelson.  Good memories of a friend. His dad and his Chrysler 300.  It appeared his dad was always trying to get to the 300.  Some of our classmates very likely met him at his job at the King County Jail.

Colombia Congrcasional Churh, for Bill and April.  Might have been Pastor Ben at that time.  Ben was memorable for his voice and fiighting scars.  Used to see Bill in later days.  Met up with him and his two boys.  They looked like chips off the block.  John, thanks for dragging up some good memories.

6-2 and even, over and out..................

OH BOY!!  Am I ever in the coop, or dog house now.  Got into a high stakes poker game last night.  Had a three dozen grade A large egg buy in.  My strategy was a little scrambled and my poker face a little cracked.  I have been informed by "She Who Must Be Obeyed" that there will be no quiche, beignets or any other food items that require cackle berries for some time to come.  So much for friendly poker games.

John, your humor always "cracks" me up!

Yaela Ettlinger (Yaela Ettlinger)

Yeah Karen, John's humor "cracks" me up too.

How is everyone feeling about turning 75yo?  This is the first birthday that has bothered me.  I think because it's on the slope to 80 and 80 seems really old to me.  As a former gerontologist I should be doing better with this!

Karen, that looks like a really big confirmation class.  I recognize Susan Tungate there.

02/21/25 02:20 PM #1713

Sylvia Lovegren (Petras)

75 seems REALLY old.

A friend thought I was turning 65 and when I said, no, 75, she was shocked. She tried to cover -- "Wow, you look great! I never thought...!"  But you could tell she was thinking "I had no idea you were so OLD."

But not much to do about it, eh?  Eat my vitamins, do my exercises, enjoy myself, appreciate the people around me, do some good in the world.

Cheers!
