Debbie, thanks so much for posting the very interesting article about the Henry family. I continue to feel embarassed and ashamed of my ignorance of so many things that happened right under my nose when I was younger.

Firstly, let me wish all of our FHS Mother's a belated Happy Mother's Day.

Wayne is doing very well and is living in England and has been for several years now. I spoke to him a short time ago and he and his family are thriving and love their life in Great Britain.

Debbie: I want to add my words of thanks to you for posting the article. I often wonder how I could have been so blind to some of the racial and religious injustices that were happening around me when I was in school. I often think about how growing up in a diverse neighborhood and student body added to who I am and to my career that followed. My best to all of you....Phil

Sorry for the misleading use of the past tense when referring to Wayne.  Also, he was actually our Student Body President, not our Senior Class President. (That would be Dave Azose) If you check out our 50th Reunion pictures, you will see many of Wayne, so he is alive and well!  In fact, I suspect longevity runs in his family since the posted article includes a picture of his mother at 97!

I knew Wayne very little in high school but I do remember him as a true gentleman. I too saw him at our 50th and spoke to him briefly. He was in the middle of a conversation with David Azose so I didn't want to intrude. They both greeted me warmly and I bid them adiew . The only problem I had with our 50th was not enough time to catch up. I would also like to wish all the Mothers a belated Happy Mother's Day. Stay safe all.

For those of you who attended the Friday night event for our 50th, you may remember Al Ovadia donated one of his ceramic vases for the raffle.  I was the lucky winner!  Well only a few years later, Al has become a serious artist and now has a website, ovadiaceramics.com, where his work is for sale.  I checked it out yesterday and found a beautiful piece that will go with my collection.  I encourage all of you to check it out!

Thanks for the tip Debbie. I'd like to see his stuff. By the way I belong to a Black-White discussion group and will be forwarding the interesting article you shared here on red lining and the Henry family to them.

I finally made it to Arizona in January and my body sure feels a lot better in this climate. Just thought I would let everyone know in case you had any questions about this area .  :). Living in Sun City West with 4 rec centers. Lots to do if you want to partake.  Lots of classes and pools!

On a sad note, the Bel Canto Facebook page learned we lost one of our own respectively. From our class '68 -

Rest in Peace. We had a choir zoom meeting on June 19, and Rick Chinn, Class of '65, put together videos. One of them is Eileen soloing uploaded to the Bel Cantos Franklin High School (Seattle) Facebook public page. The picture below is from the 2019 choir picnic Eileen come to.
