Apparently, the Angola on Nick's home page was a prank by the universe.

Stay safe out there, everyone, and happy holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy new year!

John of Hoodwink, is the SharPei wrinkle maintainer still available? I want one. Just can't get enough of those wrinkles. Also if anyone knows of a way to make arthritis worse, I'm in the market. I'm not getting enough sympathy for arthritis at my current level and I'm hoping for more empathic attention if it gets worse.
Happy Solstice, belated Chanukah wishes, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, and Best Wishes for a non-covid, non-quarantined, healthy & happy New Year!

Thanks Peggy. John, I'm so sorry to hear of your Shar Pei disappointment. I think I do vaguely remember Art W.

I received word today of the passing of classmate Steve Domes on Monday night or early Tuesday morning.  I will post further information in the In Memory section when I am able to compile it.

Thanks for posting Nancy. The last time I saw Steve was on picket duty during the great 1995 strike at Boeing. Never a good time to hear we've lost another. RIP Steve

Sad to hear about Steve passing. We used to play tennis at Sharples and golf at Jefferson short 9. He was always upbeat and didn't have a bad bone in his body. Fairways and greens, Steve.

East Brighton..WE got to name our school Graham Hill..that was cool!
Steve Domes and Leroy Huffman was part of our group of fun buddies. We raced through the "breezeway",played tag between the portables. Steve was always a gentleman and friend. Leroy I knew though business before he moved to Long Beach. Remembered and laughed lots. Both these gentleman are my history and I feel it.Stay safe and healthy

Wayne Henry was a well respected member of our class, as well as being our Senior Class President.  This article tells of the racism he and his family faced during the mid-50s while living in Seward Park.  53 years later we learn the truth of their struggle to be accepted.

I hate to ask this question but you refer to Wayne in the past tense, are you speaking historically or have we lost another of our classmates? I sincerely hope not. Very timely article by-the-way, thanks for sharing it with us

Yeah, GC had that sense too! But wow! That was an eye-opener I did not know all that. Thank you for sharing, Debbie, for the informative insightful article that sheds light on our past culture; the undercurrent, the taboo, dark, & hidden discriminatory gaslighting. And then, there is the practice that still carries on today, the real estate & home loans of "Redlining." - A time of reckoning has come today. -   The old guard is changing slowly, but changing! -                                                                                                                                                                        On the brighter side, sure was great to connect with Wayne from across the pond on our 50th Reunion. Aye Matey! Great to see ya!!

Wayne was at the 50th, wasn't he? He's not part of this group, though, right?.Thanks so much for that article, Debbie!  I didn't know Wayne really back in H.S. but I thought of him as part of a privileged class -- doctor's kid, lived in a nice house in a swanky neighborhood -- and then all this was going on. Assumptions. SMDH. And just so horrific and stupid. What is wrong with humans? A real eye opener.

Debbie, thanks so much for posting the very interesting article about the Henry family. I continue to feel embarassed and ashamed of my ignorance of so many things that happened right under my nose when I was younger.

Firstly, let me wish all of our FHS Mother's a belated Happy Mother's Day.

Wayne is doing very well and is living in England and has been for several years now. I spoke to him a short time ago and he and his family are thriving and love their life in Great Britain.

Debbie: I want to add my words of thanks to you for posting the article. I often wonder how I could have been so blind to some of the racial and religious injustices that were happening around me when I was in school. I often think about how growing up in a diverse neighborhood and student body added to who I am and to my career that followed. My best to all of you....Phil

Sorry for the misleading use of the past tense when referring to Wayne.  Also, he was actually our Student Body President, not our Senior Class President. (That would be Dave Azose) If you check out our 50th Reunion pictures, you will see many of Wayne, so he is alive and well!  In fact, I suspect longevity runs in his family since the posted article includes a picture of his mother at 97!

I knew Wayne very little in high school but I do remember him as a true gentleman. I too saw him at our 50th and spoke to him briefly. He was in the middle of a conversation with David Azose so I didn't want to intrude. They both greeted me warmly and I bid them adiew . The only problem I had with our 50th was not enough time to catch up. I would also like to wish all the Mothers a belated Happy Mother's Day. Stay safe all.

For those of you who attended the Friday night event for our 50th, you may remember Al Ovadia donated one of his ceramic vases for the raffle.  I was the lucky winner!  Well only a few years later, Al has become a serious artist and now has a website, ovadiaceramics.com, where his work is for sale.  I checked it out yesterday and found a beautiful piece that will go with my collection.  I encourage all of you to check it out!

Thanks for the tip Debbie. I'd like to see his stuff. By the way I belong to a Black-White discussion group and will be forwarding the interesting article you shared here on red lining and the Henry family to them.
