My memory is that the ice cream shop was just north of 50th but it's been a long time ago. Chris Powell lived just down the street (her cousin Josephine Powell '67 RIP lived on the other side of Genesee) and Gloria Luke around the corner. David Azose just down the block and Eric Curry around the corner from him. I'd forgotten Margaret Kremen's mom had her real estate office right there, too.  We were a happening little nabe!

Just a fun fact here.  Across the street from Kane's restaurant in the Genesee area was a meat market called Mondo's Meats.  Mondo's great (or great-great) grandson is a young man named Paolo Banchero.  One of the top HS basketball players (O'Dea), played for one year at Duke for Coach K.  Number one draft choice in the NBA. NBA  Rookie of the Year.  THE star player for the Orlando Magic.

I met him once when he was a little kid. I saw him on the Today Show during the third hour this morning, talking with Al Roker, Dylan Dryer, and others.

John M, no memory of Green River soda, will look for it on my next trip.  I knew of Chris Powell and her sister Anita and didn't the sisters date brothers Bill and Tom Rhodes at some point?  Gloria Hash had the perfect bouffant hairdo she would tease up in Mr. Durst's (spelling?) music class at Sharples.  You boys had alot of mischievous energy at the shacks with the copper wires.

Sylvia, many memories of your mention of classmates David A, Eric C and Gloria L.  I wonder the paths others took and would be good to hear from more alums.

Greg C, interesting fun fact re Mondo's NBA star relative Paolo.  Mondo's Meats was in the grocery store next door to my dad's TopSpot restaurant and we would run over to the meat market if we ran short of supplies.  Store was owned by Don Turner whose son Don Jr and two sisters attended Franklin.  My cousin sent photos that block was razed and new development underway about a year ago.  I was surprised it did not happen sooner given the lakefront properties increased value.

I was in Seattle with the family last Seafair and Nancy Chin and I planned to attend the alum lunch but one of my grandkids became ill.  Kids had a blast seeing my schools, homes on Beacon Hill, UW, Space Needle and especially the Gum Wall....so gross, felt I had to throw my shoes away afterwards, being the germaphobe I am.

Ha ha, Nancy.  Gloria Hash's bouffant was always perfect and legendary.

Mr. Eugene Felty drove a Goat!  I can't imagine that.  Would have never guessed.  The only 3 people I really remember in Mr. Luckman's class were Judy Zesbaugh (she married Mansell), Esther Fisse and John Lindemann  I was a newbie to public schools so only knew some people from the neighborhoods or past St. Ed's people.

Ric Rivera has brought us information about the death of Don McClure.  No details, but I will update if more info comes in.

Time flies like the clock on the wall. No date inked just yet. We will, if enough, make the call.

Don's daughter, Mandy, posted on his Facebook page on April 5th. He passed on April 1, 2025. Services were on April 9th in Arizona. Legacy noted his passing, but no obituary had been posted.

My wife, Donna, remembers Don from Home Economics class. They were part of a crew that enjoyed cutting up in class. She recalls throwing eggs out of windows with Don. They couldn't agree on who had the best aim. I figure it was Don. Going out on April 1st seems fitting. Don was a very nice guy with a mischievous sense of humor.

Don McClure, the name   sounds so familiar but i can't place him from high school. Any chance someone out there as a photo from one of our yearbooks?  Oddly enough, someone stole mine years ago.

Hey John and Ric,  Thanks so much for your efforts!  I did not recognize Don McClure, but great to see Pat and Melissa McGrady,Barry Meyers, Bruce Leafe, Sylvia Lovegren, Howard Lee and Bob McCormick and didn't Bob have a twin brother Mike? 57 plus years ago, I can forgive myself for not remembering everything! Thanks again for the blast from the past, Gary

John M: U say summer of '65 is when the McClure clan arrived? I will only say I hesitate to perpitrate for fear that I may deviate... I remember Don at Shapeless, and this is from the Shapeless Sharks '65 yearbook, Mr Mason's class. I can hear Desi saying "Lucy, you got some 'splainin' to do"...

RIP Terry, Doug, Jory & Don...

Gary C: Bob, aka Terry, and Mike McCormack were not twins, but less than a year apart in age. At the time, that was the most unheard of thing I'd ever heard of. I don't recall how many siblings there were; suffice to say 'twas a large clan. I've no idea where they are now, but I remember their Mt Baker manor was the biggest house I'd ever seen in our sophmore year. Peace, out...

Okay, John H.  Guess I'll shut down.  No splainin.

Their craftmans house was huge, John H. Here is a tidbit trivia. My last conversation with Bob Mc was b4 our 40th reunion. He was living in wahoo(lol) Hawaii as was Craig Eggleston on the island of Maui.

A few years back I went back to FHS and photographed the entire 1968 TOLO.

I couldn't scan it without destroying the book. So I just photographed it.

it is available at
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TQ54zXRwg-5oOD0QGFjY_DQ05VfophaF/view?usp=sharing

But if you want to see it, feel free to download it.

Its 2.2 GB.

I also have the Sharples 1965 yearbook.  I was able to scan it so the images are better. I have forgotten where I put it, but i can find it and share that too if anyone is interested.

Yes Ric, As Gary Crevling said, thank you for posting the Tolo pics. It brought back many memories of times gone by.

Thanks Bruce for making photos available to all.  Keeping track of stuff from back then is a real challenge.

And thank you, too, Bruce. I recall earlier you had mentioned that.

For another project, I had checked our Seattle's Glazer Photo and another on their rental in-house photo scanners, impressive array. That was some 20 years. Beats my workhorse Epson scanner. I'm am sure technology is far superior now.

Yeah, Gary and Barry, memories to joggle he fog of yesteryear recall.
