For all you hydro fans, on May 14th, 10am-2pm the vintage hydros will be 'testing' at the Stan Sayres pitts. So far only a few alums have said they'll be there, but it'd be great to see anybody from our class or any other(s). For more info please contact the hydro museum in Kent. Hope to see ya there! (Maybe bring earplugs) Ciao

It's crucial to note the potential through-way traffic area congestion during the weekend period of August 2, 2024, for our 11 am FEAST BUFFET 485 Renton Center Way SW, Renton, WA 98057 CLASS GET-TOGETHER. This advisory is particularly important as it allows you to plan your journey effectively. Please note that traffic congestion is clear of obstruction in front of the Buffet.

  • Please note that from 3rd St to Renton Ave S | Airport Way, for more details see the link below. The Feast Buffet is a block south of the Construction Phase. RAINIER Ave corridor Traffic/Utility improvements until mid-2025.
  • If you're coming from the north and taking 1-405, please use “exit 2, 167 & Rainier Ave S.” This clear direction will help you navigate your way to the event without any hassle.

For those of you coming from the North through Rainier Valley, it's important to be aware of the potential traffic congestion. This is especially true during the snake pit congestion of SEAFAIR. (NOTE: Seafair Friday, Aug 2, is free entry). Being prepared for this will help you manage your travel time effectively.

  • Southbound traffic on Rainier Ave S narrows down to ‘Road Diet One-Lane,’ with a second lane for the ‘Right of Way Bus Only’, beginning at Rainier Playfield and ending in Renton.- Renton Ave S | Airport Way.
  • Northbound traffic on Rainier Ave S narrows down from Renton through the Rainier Valley ending at the ‘ol Chubby & Tubby location S Walden St

Senior hint.  This hint is aimed towards those of us who have finally admitted, to themselves, that they have obtained senior status.  Those who suffer from CRS (Can't remember schtuff).  Or.  Here after syndrome.  Usually occurs when going from one room to another and not remembering what you are herefter.  It has been noted that wearing memory foam insoles can be aids in dealing with any of the above conditions.

Thank you John.

Ah! Thanks John. The common dreaded CRS syndrome... hmmm, rather ageless since I recall I boogee woogee forgot. Where's me car keyes? Has me house key hanging with em. DA, me . Theys in da car locked up. Oh no!

What was that again? Oh yah, dem memory foam insert insoles. Thats right, I nearly forgot. Lol. I recall now. The dreaded CRS so common now as we gracefully age.

In response to the locked keys, the dreaded CRS story. The little ol' lady down the street said, 'Son, save your money for wine. Just repeat several times the object of reason. Afterwards you can raise glass or two.' Emmm!Sounds like a good glass of spirits. I haven't missed me keyes since. But, the cell phone is a another story. Lol. Eh!

Ah! Good Numbers indeed, John! And I/2 of 34 is 17.

The number 17 is a good prime number.

Hi All,  So sorry to hear about Howard Lee.  In school he seemed quiet and kindly.  Unfortunately I didn't know him well.

Ric, thanks for the updates on August 2nd.  I look forward to seeing everybody.

I enjoyed the car memories.  We had a De Soto (spelling?) in the 50's.  It had a wonderfully puffy and comfortable back seat.  (Just to show you how much I know about cars!)

Did it happen?  The great Feast?  Hope to see some posts.

I don't get far from my box of air too much anymore.  I have had Dry AMD (Macular Degeneration) for about 7-10 years now.  It has finally become a pain and has curtailed my driving.  No more solo trips (6) on the Al-Can on the do list, just the Transfer Station.  Think of the William Tell Overture...............To the dump, to the dump, to the dump I go Hi Ho truck load.  Away

Stuff happens

John, i am sorry to learn the stuff that's happened to you. Would be good to see you. Attended the Feast and it was friendly and fun. I think there were only three of us that went to John Muir Elementary. Not sure how many went to Asa Mercer. Everyone seemed open, relaxed and comfortable. Anyway, it was easy and breezy. It's weird and cool to step back that far. i still have an impeccable case of the blurts. Glad I went.

Sorry to hear that John, a friend has that too, only worst.

Pictures are coming of our Aug 2 Feast shortly. I am running into some minor techie issues to address and to do work-arounds, the soduko steps-hops-marry-ups method. Lol.

Thanks Dorothy for appreciation overview. I agree! It was a hoot! Miss ya John! Next time around we hope more will join in. It is so informal relaxed and exciting reconnecting. Part of the ongoing bucketlist.

Sorry I missed the festivities.  It would be so fun to see all of you.  I keep in touch with John virtually but am sorry to hear your condition has worsened.  I'm training for an ultra thing in the Sierras in Oct so go out in the woods a lot these days.  My dog, Waldo, is over 14 now so he stays home by the window.  I am about to buy an e-bike... oh what a delight!  I love to exercise but prefer hiking so this really makes biking hills wonderful.  Have any of you tried one?

Oh crums, John, that stinks.  Living through aging is certainly a lesson giver.  Wish I could have attended the get-together!

Thanks for the kind words.  Mac Dee has no cure or real treatment.,dry or wet  Shots in the eyes at 6-7 thousand dollars, for each eye, per month.  No promises.  No cure, just slow progression about 10% for a couple years.  As we have heard before.  Old age ain't for sissies.  I am certain that many of you are dealing with much worse issues.  Time to quit my whining.  Still have lots of projects going on.  One of my bros is coming up this Saturday to take me to town for 30 sacks of cement mix. Just pick-up, not mix.   Can't say I don't know how to have fun.    Talked with Walt Rice last week.  He is doing fine.

Mr. Blah, Blah, Blah, over and out

Thank you, Nancy, for the memory. Rest in peace, Pam Cain. RIP. Wow! John, that is a hefty price. I wish you well! Geez, all in all, I wish everyone well and as healthy as possible.

Here is the FEAST Buffet from Friday, August 2, 2024, our informal gathering, from the cameras of Debbie, Lance, and Ric. The picture poses range from Natural as-it-is to cheesy. They are also on our sister site on Facebook," Franklin High School Class of 68 Seattle" group page. ENJOY!

Ric, thanks so much for posting. While I did not know Pam Cain well, after reading Nancy's posting, I clearly missed getting to know a very special person. May she Rest in Peace. I am so sorry I missed all the fun at the Feast. I was so excited to come and see everyone and had beenn planning the trip for months. Unforutnately, my wife got covid on 7/28 and as such, I decided, it was best I did not attend. In the end, I did not get Covid, but why take a chance.

Everyone looks so great. So sad, I didn't get to see all of you. Hopefully, there will be another chance soon.

Take care and I wish you all good health and happiness.

Sorry to have missed seeing you all at the luncheon and thanks to those who were instrumental in making it happen. I had fully intended to come but a last minute unavoidable demand got in the way. Like Al I hope another opportunity we come along in the not to distant future so we can continue to stay in touch. Thanks for sharing the pictures and my very best wishes to you all.  Phil Anderson

Whilst in the ol' 'hood for the Feast event, I finally made it to the hydro museum in Kent, sorta.... I didn't actually enter the museum as when I arrived all the boats were being shuffled around outside. So, I'll see your Bardahl and raise you a Wahoo! One of our own 68-ers piloted the Wahoo last October in Chelan. (I can't tell you his name as that would be indiscreet, but his initials are... Sam Amira. U dah man, Sam!!!) Njoy all, peace, out...

Al, sorry to hear Ginny got covid. I know 5 people that had or have covid o'er the last few months. The numbas are ticking upwards, so be careful! I remember Pam Cain from Whitworth, Sharples & Franklin. She was always very quiet, apparently a 'still waters run deep' sorta personna. I never knew she had 7 siblings. I was saddened to hear she's gone. I hope to get back to California, but with the wildfires, and sick sea lions at Morro Bay, it's gonna hafta wait... Stay in touch, always good to hear from ya, peace, out...
