Betty, point taken.
Hate to appear needy or pushy. Guess I was excited and impatient. Turns out I'm human, dammit. I never try to sell insurance (AAAck indeed), just jazz. I'll love to see you on the 7th; no worries if not. I'll put you on the list when I have an email address.
Ever subtle, Dorothy
P.S. Nice to hear from more people on this forum. Thanks to all of you. And here's much gratitude to all the classmates who made the reunion and this means of connection happen!

Betty.........Thanks for making something clear to me. At Tula's I thought it odd that the waiter's were dressed as ducks and kept saying, what I thought, was Roberta Flack. Turns out it was AAAck Flack! I guess I can stop calling and trying to get reservations for Roberta's show. I was beginning to wonder why they kept hanging up on me and saying something about some nut case........

Make time for the show. I know that most of us don't go out after a day's work very often anymore.

Still stuck in the mosh pit..........John

What happened to Arne Vicklund he sent me a message and now he does not exsit.

Don.......Good question about Arne. Space alien abduction perhaps right after seeing him at the basketball game on Friday. He had said that he had some sort of computer meltdown after he had gone to update his profile. However he did get it updated sometime after the reunion, but now??? he is among the missing. Sounds like the opening sequence in a bad grade C sci-fi movie.

See Don, just like I said, space alien abduction. They grabbed Arne and gave him a refresher course on Shakespere. I quote "I am here, but not. Just virtually."
Sounds like Hamlet to me.

Arne, good question. Where did they get those blue jackets? I'm not sure I have the haircut right yet but I'm still working on it.

Brenda Riddock.......Please step out of the wheelhouse long enough to drop the forum a line and maybe a picture on your profile. Sounds like a fun career as a skipper of a tour boat. Marilynn Dreher is also a skipper/mate. Believe she has a 100 ton license. I seem to recall that John Dunham was a towboat/tug captain/mate. Taylor (Ty) Anderson (66) is a captain for the Wash. State Ferry System. Some of you may remember Ty from b-ball games as being the loudest one there. He may have been practicing to shout from the bridge down to the car deck.

Be sure to jump in here and correct any mistakes. I only have one pea left rattling around in my head and it doesn't always drop into the right slot anymore.

Arne..........Tom Rhoades is hiding in plain sight in Puyallup. He and one of his daughters are dentists there, specializing in cosmetic dentistry. Maybe we can get a class/group rate on falsies (dentures). I believe that Tom's grandfather, Willard, owned the Thriftway stores and thus the hydroplanes or something to that effect. Maybe we can get Greg to pony up some more info.

I think I still have my high school uniform around here somewhere. Blue jacket, white tee shirt, Levi 501's and black Chuck Taylor All Stars.

Ummm, John...any chance you visited that dentist office down south and took a couple deep whiffs of that funny gas they use to make you not care that whatever they're doin hurts like the dickens??? Or am I just not up on a recent version of the "Clue" game?

Okay. Where are the photos? I can't wait to see them!

Arne......I am fairly certain that the echo you hear is the wind blowing past the ears of this rebel without a clue.

As to the toothpaste on your wingtips I can only assume two things. You are going out on the Senior's tour in golf or once again you sniffed all the glue before getting your model car finished.

Spellcheck?? Is that something from the "Bewitched" show?

Arne...........If I remember correctly the first week in November comes right after the last week in October. As always we are living in historic times. In a few years this time might even be referred to as "The Good Old Days". Now if these are the good old days I would surely hate to see the bad old days. As to politics, I prefer not to address them in this forum.

Just a suggestion.....Take a look at Nick Perensovich's profile. He has a link to his home page of his trips in Asia. If he gives up his job as an attorney he can easily become a professional photographer. I was quite pleased to get the chance to talk with him at the reunion. Interesting how many people made this reunion who had never been before. Perhaps me and my fellow Luddites may have to rethink this whole flat earth stuff. I was certain that many had dropped off the edge.
Et voila, there they are again.

Brenda Riddock.........Great pictures on your profile. I figure if a computer illiterate such as myself can manage to get them anyone is capable of doing it. Is that our esteemed president in that photo standing front and center? I think those were taken in the eighth grade. I know that I have one of my homeroom pictures around some place. Now if I can only find the black hole it got sucked into.

Dateline Middle America..........I am not sure whether that is a good thing or not but it seems appropriate during this election period. Interesting how everyone's placement of that location differs. I digress. Kind of like going to the store for spinach and coming back with donuts.

I have heard from a highly confidential, inside, source that the "Reunion Committee" is meeting today (Sunday 10/05/08). I was given to believe that the question of photos would be discussed. Hopefully my source will give me an update or will post one him/herself. One must be careful not to reveal one's confidential sources.

Okay, Tony........You are the one that got me started posting to the site. However I am a bit flummoxed here. You have made some great posts amd then deleted them. I for one, hope that you make some more and leave them for all to read. Please, please.

Speaking of sharing. Perhaps some of us can share some thoughts on those who have passed away. I still remember meeting Walt Henry the first day of seventh grade. Tony Lewis and his fast talking and wise cracking. John Dunham, his Raleigh 3-speed bike and always listening to "The Duke of Earl". Now I know that we have all moved on from those days but for better or worse we are the sum total of our experiences.

Archie Bell and the Drells doing "The Lighten Up".......or is it the Tighten up???..

I have been informed by my doctor that Coke and Snickers may constitute a vegetarian diet. They however seem to fall short in the healthy end of the spectrum.

And..........Why wasn't I informed that I was going to be growing all these barnacles?

Dateline Ballard............Home of pickled herring, lutefisk and also the location of Dorothy Rhode's next performance. She will be appearing at Egan's. Menu appears to varied and resonably priced.

Now Dorothy stated in her last posting that she would be singing in 5/8 time. Well I have gone though my old music from the days when I played the violin, and yes, the bagpipes. I have yet to find any 5/8 time music other that "Happy Birthday, Dorothy". Oh, Oh, now I get it.

The Birthday Game..........Have you found your birthday twin in our class yet? That is someone who shares the same date of birth as your own. Now it doesn't have to be the same year. I happen to have a twin who 4 years older than me. My Mom claims it was an extremely long labor.

Yes, I indeed have a twin in our class. She still has dark hair and is still very pretty. If she was born in Seattle, she was born in the heart of a blizzard. She did not go to John Muir, Whitworth, Graham Hill, Brighton, Columbia, Dunlap, VanAssalt, Maple or Bayley Gatzert. She and I share a birthdate that is very important to our school.

Now, what do you win?? If you can name the date, the young lady's name and the significance to Franklin, I will pay your cover charge at Egan's Tuesday night. One winner only and you must respond in the forum. People with the following initials are not eligible. BT, DH, DH, TD, BD, WR. People with those initials know who they are. Now if they don't know who they are, one can only assume that they are suffering from CRS Syndrome.

John MacLeod,
Bless you! for promoting my gig which if you hadn't noticed falls on a debate night.
5/8 time refers to the age I'll be, or did you know that? Didn't think I'd make it to 30, much less 50 flipping 8.
I am so grateful I decided to check out your profile to ascertain your birthday and see if I knew it's significance for Franklin (won't be searching for your birth twin). Nope, don't know.
Are those pics newly posted? Nice. I recognize two classmates from the photo: Tracy Dahlby and Bruce Leaf.
And I too wondered why Tony Mamon downsized his profile.
Again, John, thank you and thanks to any who may show up for 5/8 time.

Hey John,

I finally did make it out of the wheelhouse, but only for one night. I leave again tomorrow for 3 weeks on the Columbia River.
I like your Birthday game, if I were going to be in Seattle for Dorothys show I would certainly take a guess. I have a pretty good idea who your birthday twin might be.... Oh well !!
Hopefully your intel is good and we will soon have reunion pictures posted for all to enjoy. I'll check in again when I return home.

Georgina Palmer.....Nice update to your profile. It is always interesting how much our lives were influenced by our time at Franklin. We all went to the same school at the same time but experienced it differently and grew our lives forward from that time.

Thanks for sharing..........John

Name that birth date contest is now officially closed.

The answer is January 17th. My birthday as well as Brenda Riddock's. The connection to Franklin is.....it is also Benjamin Franklin's date of birth.

Dorothy is playing at the Ballard Jam House and it seems that about 6 or 8 classmates will be in attendance.

It is not raining in Seattle. That is a good thing.

Dateline Ballard............

Dorothy Rhodes once again had her audience in the palm of her hand. Great jazz singing with a little skat and skiffle thrown in. A touch of poetry and it made for a great night out. The food at Egan's was excellent and good sized portions. Parking was way too easy. The wait staff (Heather) was very nice and managed to control the room and keep the everyone happy. Birthday cake was served after the show.

Others from our class in attendence were Karen Kummerfeldt and her significant other Harry, Debbie Kashino, Betty Zoll and Tony Mamon. Hopefully they will post their thoughts here. It was a fun evening.

Tony..........I had noticed the limp after you returned from your escort duties but I just put it down to the effects of the aging process.

It was a fun evening and the conversation after the show reminded me of sitting at malt shop/beanery and just talking stuff.

After 40 years I am finally finding out that I was not the only one who felt shy, introverted and gawky. Maybe I still am but I don't worry about it anymore.

Now when are we going out to see Tony??
