Alas, one of my major regrets is that I never saw the Beatles live. Keith, you're a lucky man to have that memory. I did go see the Dave Clark 5 at (of all places!) the Opera House at Seattle Center with Mike Akrish. Mike, RIP. Does anybody know why Mike died? I also went to my first hockey game with Mike at the Coliseum. Hey, remember the Coliseum? That was before everything had to have The Corporate States of America stamped on it. Daze of our youth, indeed; when we were young and immoral. Hope all's going well with all, JRH

Hello Everyone:

I am starting to again look for our missing classmates.  Please look at the names from the classmate profiles tab that have no check mark by the name.  Some of them I may have information on but they have just not established their profile.  However, those that I am still looking for are all located there.  Any help you can give me will be much appreciated.  Just send me what you have and I will tell you whether or not that person is still missing.  Names and ages of siblings often yield great results as well.  Many thanks for your help.

Jeff Almanzor was living in the Burien area; contact Dempsey Henley for a possible update. Gary Cook lives in the Renton/Fairwood area, but I don't have any contact info. Craig Eggleston lives in Hawaii; Paul Nogaki may have more info. Donald Larson, aka Eldon Larson, disappeared in the 70's and I've never known what's become of him. Randy Falk started going  by Randy Cooley(sp?) after high school. He went into the marines, then the army; no other info. Hope that helps.
Happy stinko de my-o, JRH

Hello Everyone:

I am continuing to search for the missing and have found a very strange thing.  I have been looking for a Lyle McAlpine who is listed on our commencement program between Joy and Mike Mickelson.  Doing a nationwide search turns up nothing under that name.  Does anyone remember a Lyle McAlpine?  Or is there perhaps a different spelling.  He does not appear anywhere in any of our annuals that I can find.  It is a puzzle, but I am wondering if someone entered a false name in our commencement program, or if it is someone else of a similar name.  Any enlightenment would be much appreciated.

Ok, so I made it to the March Of Dimes "March For Babies" , and yes it happened.......

I fell, and down I went into the middle of the street and bruised and scrapped my right elbow. Got up, blood and all, and I finshed the walk. Last year I fell on my driveway and broke my little finger on the left hand. Only I can do these things. I think I need assisted living !! OUCH!!!

Debra, Deb, Debbie..........Don't know which one you favor these days, along with mom and grandma.  Nice update photo of your son and grandkids.  More power to you for taking the guts and fortitude to make the March of Dimes walk.

Rain and more rain..........Seattle just set two new records for highest rainfall for a May 14th and 15th.  The NW is setting new records for the coldest spring on record.  However there may soon be dancing in the streets.  It seems we may get a 70* day this week.

John,

Thanks. I try to set myself some goals that I would really accomplish. I have walked in the March for Babies walk for the last four or five years. I did miss one year when all my health problems kept me so sick I  knew There was not way. Deb. Debbie, or Debra, I go by all of these. However mostly around family and friends it's Debbie. Thanks for the comment about my son and grandkids. I can not believe I have a 17 year old grandson. We went to the Easter picnic again this year and we all got the silly string and confetti eggs all over us.. I vowed revenge next year. The March for Babies is such a good cause. It's for babies born premature. I feel so good afterwards...this year was a little tough. It was hot out that day too. We have had a cooler spring here too. We are suppose to have rain tonight and tomorrow morning and then again tomorrow night and Wednesday morning. We have had alot of rain this year.

Debbie

Hello to everyone:

I just talked with Mary McNutt Shields yesterday evening.  She promised me that she would be joining to our website soon.  So, keep an eye out for her and give her a warm welcome.  The search continues for the missing, and I want to say thanks to all of you that have passed on information.  So far no actual connections, but I continue to search.

Having "fun" attempting to dispute incorrect credit report information online.  Then get directed to call an "800" number.  After an extended go around with a voice prompt system am advised that real people are only available M-F 9am-5pm.  Given the prevalence of identity theft, I am guessing that many of you have had similar experiences.  John MacLeod, can you lighten a dismal experience with your levity?

One of my favorite teachers, Mrs. Crow, has passed away (Sharples Jr. High).  I've posted her obit because I found it quite interesting.  I'll always remember disecting minks in her class and someone puncturing a musk gland that stunk up the classroom and out into the hallway.  Trust me it was not I.  However Kurt Gores was in that class.  Not to be confused with Kieth Gorze.  I'm not saying that Kurt did it but maybe he remembers who did

Lucy Ann CROW Lucy passed away April 27, 2011 at the age of 92. Born in Ural, Russia in 1918, Lucy, her mother, and older sister escaped the Bolshevik Revolution by traveling across Siberia to join her father in China and immigrate to the US in 1923. Lucy graduated early from Broadway High, attended Cornish School, and earned a Masters in Bacteriology from the U of W. Lucy enlisted in the Waves, attained the rank of Lt. JG, and served during WWII managing laboratories at several military hospitals. Lucy and local surgeon Donald R. Crow wed in 1948 and in 1960 she began a 30-year career teaching Science and Health in Seattle schools including Sharples and Franklin. On Dr. Crow's passing in 1991 Lucy moved to Providence Pt. Issaquah and began another phase of life with new friends and activities. Lucy is survived by sister Gloria Burke Elks, sons Rod and Don Crow (Gail), daughters Leslie Crow (Terry Stipe) and Lori Tyler (George), and grandchildren Connor Tyler, Sascha Stipe, Esther Crow, and Sarah Crow. A Donation to Medic One in lieu of flowers is suggested. A celebration of Lucy's life and an open house will be held on Sunday June 12 from 2 to 5pm in the Providence Point Community Clubhouse, 4135 Providence Pt. Drive, Issaquah, WA.

Thanks John:

I remember Mrs Crow as well and enjoyed having her as a teacher.  I heard about your class and the mink dissecting fiasco.  I was really glad I wasn't in your class.

We have had a number of classmates join us in the last two weeks.  Please welcome them warmly, especially those that you knew during your years at Franklin.  A warm welcome to Mike O'Brien, Barbara Davidson Lindquist and Howard Glazer.

Hello Everyone:

I spent Saturday getting my kicks on route 66 and what a time of nostalgia it was.  The burma shave signs between Ash fork and Peach Springs were a real treat.  The biggest surprise was being accosted by wild burros as I walked down the wooden sidewalks in Oatman, AZ.  At various times, I have been on portions of historic route 66, but this was the first intentional journey into remembering what it was like to take road trips back in the 50's and 60's.  Sometime around 1959 my family travelled part of route 66 in the San Bernardino area as drove between Disneyland and Salt Lake City.  In my memory is something called the blue onion restaurant.  Just wondering if anyone else remembers those old vacation road trips when all we could say from the back seat was "are we there yet?".  Those days before freeways and before seat belts were a totally different era.  And yet we all survived..........

Oatman is a little town in Arizona. My grandkids went there last summer and got pictured with the burrow's. There is a hotel there where Clark Gable and Carol Lombart spent their honeymoon. It was a popular place for them to hide out and get away. The hotel is supposly haunted.

Forgive me for uploading this to the forum.  I found it in February and have been trying to upload it to my profile but it won't let me upload to there.  Thought it would be fun to share for those who went to Asa Mercer (sorry John).  I also have some orchestra pictures if anyone wants to see them I can upload them.  It's just 2-4 pics.

Lyn,

Thanks for downloading the old Mercer yearbook. It was nice seeing a lot of old faces that I had forgotten about.  It brought back a lot good memories.  Please go ahead and add the orchestra pictures too.

Well my latest adventure.... got bitten by a dog yesterday. Spent two hours in urgent care. Luckily I did't need stitches. I am now on two antibiotics.... I swear assisted living sounds better all the time.

Now. a much needed rest. Had to go get blood tests twice this week since they didn't give them all to me on Tuesday. Thats the future of the rest of my life.

Many thanks to Connie Messmer Hennessey who has been researching death information for some of our classmates.  She has brought us information on four of them that we did not have.  Let us not forget.
